Nakano Umeshu is made with local Nanko-ume grown in Wakayama, a region known for its ume. The origin of our company’s flavorful umeshu is found in this product. The components of umeshu are mostly malic acid and citric acid. Made with green fruits of Nanko-ume grown in Kishu Wakayama, our umeshu is characterized by a higher ratio of citric acid in comparison with other products made with regular ume fruits.
Citric acid is the reason why umeboshi (pickled ume fruits) are good for our health (help recover from fatigue, etc.); it has components that facilitate recovery from fatigue and inhibit the lactic acid, and is ideal for those who are on a diet. Enjoy the excellent interplay of the initial sweetness of umeshu and the refreshing sourness that follows; it is characteristic to umeshu produced in Wakayama, the home of finest ume. Since both the sweetness and sourness of this product are highly concentrated compared to umeshu of other manufacturers, you can enjoy the flavor of ume whether it is served on the rocks or mixed with soda.

Ume fruits are used
Ume, or Japanese apricot, a species of plum, is a tree of the blossom and the fruit, distributed widely in Asia. Ume trees have been very often painted of from the ancient times, and very popular garden trees in Japan.
Ume has many species, such as Gojiro-Ume,
Shirokaga-ume,Koshu-Saisho-ume and so forth, the fruits of which are very often eaten. Umeshu(Ume-liqueur) is a kind of liqueur in which the edible fruits are soaked and the flavour of fruits is extracted.
Quality species “ Nakano Umeshu”
We use a quality species “Nanko-ume” for making Ume liqueur among the many species. “Nanko-ume” is the produce of Wakayama, where Nakano BC is located, We make an effort to acquire the Ume fruits of quality, by making contracts with the “Nanko-ume” farmers near the Minabe Ume Orchard, well known farm in Japan.
The fruit of Nanko-ume is very big in size, with a relatively smaller stone, and features thick and soft flesh. Among Nanko-ume of thick flesh, there are of various size ranging from very big ones and rather small ones, We only use ones of big size and high quality.

There are the Ume forest stretching as far as you can see on the gently sloping hills, we call them Minabe Ume Orchard of “Million Ume trees, fragrance of blooming Ume floating in ten miles radius”. They bloom white flowers and the air will be filled with the fragrance of Ume all around in the season.
